Born: September 1971, married with 2 children. After completing my secondary education I went straight into employment. It wasn’t until the age of 19 I commenced my first real job working for Vitafoam Ltd, a long established business in Paisley and subsidiary of British Vita. Over the years I gained considerable experience working within the manufacturing division.
During the time working for Vitafoam I had the opportunity to establish myself has a hardworking and committed employee. I began my employment, like many others, at the bottom, working on a polyurethane recycling operation. I progressed through most, if not all, the operations on the the Paisley site. In 1997 I was given the opportunity for promotion. The promotion was for the post of Process Supervisor. This mainly consisted of assisting in the maintenance of the businesses quality management system (BS EN ISO 9002). The main aspect of this role was to give advice, guidance and to make the necessary amendments to quality procedures.
Because I had some knowledge of computer systems I was selected to manage, within a team, the businesses CNC manufacturing operation.· This consisted of CAP (Computer Assisted Programming) programmable CNC machine. This was eventually extended with the introduction of a new state of the art CNC machine, this took place in 2001. My role has evolved from supporting the CNC machines to all IT devices and services with in the business.
To ensure I could meet the tasks set I felt it was key to continuously develop my skills, both academically and professionally. Over the years I have attended seminars, gained professional skills and have successfully attained an HNC, two HND’s, a Diploma in Management and a Degree in Information Technology, all of which I am very proud of.
